Francis (Hyun Kyung) LEE est un chercheur postdoctorant dans le groupe Santiago (Le laboratoire des mécanismes de signalisation des plantes) au département de Biologie Moléculaire Végétale dans l'Université de Lausanne. Il présentera ses travaux le 19 mars à 11h à l'auditorium Lynn Margulis (PABS-B).

Abstract

Plant cells read and organize the surrounding cell wall for growth and morphogenesis. The molecular mechanisms of how plant cells organize the matrix polymer or how the physicochemical property of the wall is decoded are fundamental questions to be addressed. In this seminar, I will present our latest discoveries on protein-mediated wall organization and an attempt to characterize how the cell wall status is decoded.

F. LEE est né en Corée et a grandi à Toronto, au Canada. Il a complété son baccalauréat à l'Université de Toronto avec une double spécialisation en neurosciences et en biologie moléculaire cellulaire. Francis a ensuite fait la transition vers la biologie végétale à l'Université de Toronto. Là, il a caractérisé deux sous-groupes de kinases de type récepteur répétés riches en leucine qui régulent la perception et la discrimination du pollen chez Arabidopsis thaliana. En octobre 2020, il rejoint le groupe Santiago de l'Université de Lausanne pour étudier comment la signalisation pariétale cellulaire est transmise lors du processus d'expansion des cellules végétales.
