Call 2026 - young scientists is now open

The FR AIB is launching its 2026 call for proposals: this edition is dedicated to early-career researchers—including doctoral students, postdoctoral researchers, and engineers on fixed-term contracts—to support ongoing or future projects. Where possible, projects should utilize a platform within the federation’s scope.

This call for proposals aims to support work carried out by doctoral students and, more generally, by all individuals on fixed-term contracts that are valid for at least the duration of the project. The maximum funding is €5,000 per project.

The project must be drafted and carried out by the applicant, with the approval of the thesis advisor or research contract supervisor, and may be either independent of the applicant’s current research project or closely related to it.

Funding may cover laboratory experiments, fieldwork, assignments at another laboratory to perform a specific technique, and data processing (access to a bioinformatics platform). However, the call for proposals excludes costs for conference attendance, publication fees, or salary costs (intern stipends are accepted).

The use of platforms within the FR AIB network is encouraged: FR Imaging, FR Proteomics, AgromiX, TPMP, terrestrial and aquatic METATRON platforms, the SETE greenhouse and aviary, as well as CRBE platforms (Observation & Instrumentation technical service, Chemistry service, Molecular Biology & Microbiology service). Prior contact with the relevant platforms is required and must be included with the application.
