Proteomics

The FR AIB is closely associated with the Toulouse Proteomics Infrastructure (IPT), headed by Odile Schiltz, whose main site is at the Institute of Pharmacology and Structural Biology (IPBS). This platform, open to the entire public and private scientific community, provides by mass spectrometry, the analysis of proteins on a large scale from their identification and characterization to their quantification or even their molecular interactions. A FR AIB staff member (Carole Pichereaux), specialized in mass spectrometry, assumes responsibility for the proteomics projects of our Federation.

Services provided by the IPBS proteomics unit:

  • Protein identification
  • Post-translational modification studies
  • Analysis of protein complexes and the identification of interacting partners
  • Quantitative global analysis of proteomes
  • Targeted analysis of proteins of interest
  • Bioinformatics analysis of MS data
  • Analysis of whole proteins

Specialized equipment:

  • Several latest generation mass spectrometers comprise the principal equipment of the platform:
    • nanoLC-ESI MS/MS using high resolution and high acquisition speed machines such as Orbitrap (thermo Scientific) with several possible fragmentation modes (CIS, HCD, ETD) for global proteomics analysis
    • Q-TRAP mass spectrometry (Applied Biosystems) dedicated to targeted proteomics analysis
    • Waters Synapt G2-Si mass spectrometer dedicated to the analysis of whole proteins
    • MALDI-TOF/TOF mass spectrometry (5800-Applied Biosystems)
  • Protein-protein interaction studies can be performed with the Biacore system.
