Abstract

Morgane Batzenschlager studies cellular and molecular biology, with a particular focus in the mechanisms allowing particular cell types to complete or not cell division. Her work has led to significant advances in the characterization of new targets restricted in the context of engineering nitrogen-fixing symbiosis in plants, as well as in understanding how infection competence connects to cell cycle control in established symbiotic systems. In this frame, she established and uses versatile fluorescent sensors to study the characteristic features of cortical cells placed on the infection thread trajectory. These projects, gravitating around the cellular and molecular mechanisms regulating the structure and activity of plant cells in the context of plant-microbe interactions, will be of broad interest to the FR AIB community.

Morgane Batzenschlager est actuellement chercheuse postdoctorante dans l’équipe de Thomas Ott à l’Université de Freiburg (Allemagne). Elle travaille à l’interface entre biologie cellulaire et le rôle de la chromatine dans la mise en place des symbioses rhizobiennes. Elle vient de publier sur le contrôle du cycle cellulaire dans la progression de l’infection chez Medicago, avec des approches de microscopie confocale afin d’étudier les dynamiques des protéines histones.
